A pleasing view at York Holgate in August 1979 still sees the railway looking much the same as it did in the steam era. A double-headed down tanker train is piloted by BR Class 31 No. 31285 with BR Class 37 No. 37009 as the train loco. 31285 was built by Brush Traction of Loughborough in Oct. 1961 as BR No. D5817 and is still in service owned by Network Rail, whilst 37009 was built by English Electric Vulcan Foundry in Feb. 1961 as BR No. D6709. They would be withdrawn in Jan. 1974 and Mar. 1995 respectively. 37009 is now preserved at Ruddington, GCR North.
