A611 1920s near Purley
SECR J 0-6-4T No A611 near Purley in c1925.
Judging by the four tracks of the Brighton main line, a couple more in the background and the siding in the foreground, we think this is immediately north of the bridge over Stoats Nest Road, a little south of Purley and actually nearer Couldson North station (or 'Stoats Nest' as it was then).
The houses on the horizon look right for for the lie of the land in that area as well.
If all the above is correct this photo is looking south, with the train heading towards London.
