GWR 4575 class 2-6-2T No 4599 has just crossed Barmouth bridge and approaches the town with a Machynellth on June 25, 1955.
Peter Kerslake says "This splendid view shows the opening steel section over the deepest part of the Mawddach estuary together with the beginning of the Panorama Walk just visible on the left which took ramblers across the bridge after making payment of a small fee at the building in the centre of this picture, formerly part of the lifeboat station with the lifeboat slipway visible on the low tide."
