Swindon Works: '4575' 2-6-2T freshly repaired
No. 4598 (built 4/27, withdrawn 12/56). Behind is a Dukedog 4-4-0.

Peter Kerslake says "4598 was a Cornish engine based at Truro within the mid ' fifties and is seen here at Swindon in new colours following overhaul and before working back home down to the far Westcountry .
The penultimate example of the sixth batch of one hundred emerging from Swindon works between 1927 and 1929 this view shows the taperd water tanks which increased their water capacity to 1300 gallons , and these little engines were to be found on branch lines throughout the Western network as well as on short distance freights . "
