Stabled between branch services out of the way of a freight the line to Bodmin curving off to the right behind the hut.

It was very much the case in the happy days of steam that if there was a Western Region branch line there would be a " Forty Fiver " or " Fifty Fiver " to be seen , whether it was in Cornwall's deepest depths , the Midlands or elsewhere .
Here at Bodmin Road little 4569 from Saint Blazey Depot is awaiting its next call to duty , with the branch line up to its terminus at Bodmin General behind the trees and hut seen in the background.
Constructed from its earliest example in 1906 , and developed from his 1904 smaller " 4400 " class , construction of Mr . Churchward's design of the " 4500 " class was continued through to the final one hundred being built between 1927 and 1929 , virtually unchanged from hs earliest examples, but with this final batch having sloping water tanks with an increased capacity of 1300 gallons , 300 gallons more than the original designs with their straight topped tanks.
The first to be condemned was 4531 in 1950 , with examples remaining in service until 1964 when 5508 , 5531 , 5564 and 5569 were the last to survive.
