45154 1966-09-24 Wigan North Western

In 1957 one of the four named Class 5s, 45154 Lanarkshire Yeomanry, was transferred from Scotland to Newton Heath but by the early 1960s its nameplates had disappeared. However wooden replica plates were fitted when it worked the RCTS 'South Lancashire Railtour' on 24th September 1966 as shown in this photograph taken as 45154 was about to depart from Wigan North Western. The tour started there and visited St.Helens, Merseyside, Chorley and Horwich before returning to Wigan Wallgate eight hours later, with Lanarkshire Yeomanry in charge throughout.
