44814 1963-02-02 Bath Green Park

From 21A Saltley shed.

Peter Kerslake says "Bath Green Park Motive Power Depot was really two separate establishments dating back to the days when the Midland and Somerset and Dorset Railway both operated on the line across the Mendips, and 44814 seen here is on what was the original S. & D. part, with its four road covered shed, larger holding area and coaling facility.
With the sixty foot turntable being located outside the former Midland shed it was necessary, therefore, that engines to be turned and recoaled had to access both sections of the depot which made movements somewhat chaotic during busy periods, especially as most locomotives on shed needed to be turned and re-coaled, particularly those working in from far afield and especially on Summer Saturdays."
