Ex-LMS Stanier 'Black 5' class 4-6-0 No. 45226. Built by Armstrong Whitworth of Newcastle in August 1936 as LMS No. 5226 and withdrawn in September 1967.

A smoky, atmospheric scene at Carlisle's Kingmoor MPD in August 1967 finds 45226 in company with an '8F', two other 'Black 5s' and (I think) an Ivatt '4MT' 2-6-0. This was to be the final year of the steam era and visiting enthusiasts (as here) were frequent interlopers!
