The Keswick and Workington portion of The Lakes Express with the last-built Black Five 4-6-0 in charge, No 44687, constructed by BR in May 1951 and finally withdrawn in January 1966. This lightweight train needed little effort from the engine with a clear exhaust resulting. The headboard seemed to have been sprayed with white paint and could hardly be read.
