44905 at Crewe after completing a Heavy General repair in March 1950, during which it was renumbered and repainted in plain black, unrelieved by any lining or lettering on the tender, despite the introduction of the lined out mixed traffic livery in late 1949. At this date it was shedded at Barrow but moved to its final depot at Carnforth the following October.
