A splendidly sunny Bromsgrove looking its best with spotlessly clean platforms as an equally well turned out 44963 runs through on the down fast road in this nicely composed photograph.
In past years there had been a requirement that all down trains , including passenger workings , were halted briefly at Blackwell before dropping down the two miles to here at Bromsgorove , but that requirement was later relaxed to a severe speed restriction in later years.
Stanier ‘Class 5’ No. 44963 in 1963 on the Down Fast line. The Down platform at Bromsgrove was on the Down Slow whereas the Up platform was on the Up main, because there was only one line through the station in that direction. No.44963 was at Saltley from November 1954 until April 1964 when it moved to Crewe South.
