Stanier ‘Class 5’ 4-6-0 No.44878 from Carlisle Kingmoor on 7th April 1963 at Aston shed is still clean following a Heavy Intermediate repair at Crewe Works the previous month. Unusually, Crewe has placed the cab number lower down than the usual position shown on No.44696 behind, probably because they were following what had been done at its previous repaint, at St.Rollox.
