450xx 1960s Birmingham New Street

Those unused platform barrows were always handy for trainspotters. These two with their well-stocked bags look as though they were there for the day. Behind them, a Class ‘5’raises the roof and one of the small 204bhp diesel shunters which became Class ‘03’ under TOPS, No.D2395, which were used as station pilots in the mid-1960s. This one came to Monument Lane in March 1962 from Bushbury and worked from there until January 1967.
