A rather delightful photo of LMS Class 5 4-6-0 No 45025 shunting at Burneside on 14th June 1968 while working a Carnforth to Windermere pick-up goods. This shows the train heading over the Lower Crossing.
Strangely this crossing is named Burneside Lower Crossing despite being further north - and at a slightly higher elevation - than Burneside Higher Crossing on the Kendal side of Burneside station.
