44822 1965-07-04 Wakefield Belle Vue
By July 1965, steam hauled passenger trains were becoming a bit of an 'occasion' as the onlookers from the footbridge at Belle Vue in Wakefield could testify. Wakefield's ex-L&YR MPD is on the right. One of the huge pair of cooling towers at Wakefield Power station looms over a scene that has now completely changed with the lines remaining but all else erased from the landscape. Ex-LMS Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0 No. 44822 was built at Derby in Dec. 1944 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1967.
