Blasting along the WCML with a down Fitted Freight. The first wagon is an interesting one - a lowfit carrying a tanker, could it be a milk tanker?
Peter Kerslake says "Yes , quite possibly a road wheeled milk tanker is at the head of this working as such road tankers were frequently included in a milk train in company with the more usual rail milk tank wagons and the inclusion of one or more road tankers on a milk working was quite a common sight .
" Milk by Rail " unfortunately came to an end in 1980 , a pity as such workings made for an interesting sight , regularly worked by a decent engine and often double headed due to their substantial weight when fully loaded"
