Lostock Hall's ex-LMS Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0 No. 45073 makes smoky progress at Cheadle Heath, Stockport in August 1965. It is heading the 17:22 from Manchester Central to Buxton. A typical period 'corner newsagents' of M.E. Conway's is visible behind the locomotive in Bilson Drive. 45073 was built at Crewe in June 1935 as LMS No. 5073 and was withdrawn in August 1968 at the very end of BR's steam era.
