Class 5 No. 44888 in the carriage sidings at Southport after bringing the RVRS (Roch Valley Railway Society) rail tour from Manchester Victoria on 21st July 1968. Britannia No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell, which is just visible below the footbridge on the left hand side of the picture, took the train forward on a circular trip via Bolton, Manchester and Blackburn, and then another Class 5, No. 45110, returned the tour to Manchester Central via Aintree, Widnes and Warrington Central.
