The very neat and tidy station at Alne in North Yorkshire closed in May 1958. It was a very typical ex-NER design for lesser stations on the ECML north of York.

Alne also served as the main line junction connection with the delightfully bucolic 2-mile long Easingwold Light Railway. Racing north is fittingly named BR Peppercorn 'A1' 4-6-2 No. 60126 'Sir Vincent Raven'. Built at Doncaster in April 1949 and withdrawn in January 1965.
