This superb portrait of 'Curlew' by the late Paul Claxton was taken at Doncaster Carr MPD on Friday 3rd November 1961.

It was obviously being 'bulled up' for some special occasion - but which? My research has not yet revealed why it was receiving such attention. BR Peppercorn 'A1' 4-6-2 No. 60122 was built at Doncaster in Dec. 1948 and withdrawn in Dec. 1962.
