For most enthusiasts, the big attractions at York were the Station and the two Locomotive Sheds at Leeman Road and York South. Most were unaware of the large freight yards located to the south of the city at Dringhouses and north at York North Yard and a little further northward at Poppleton Ings. The lines to Knaresborough and Harrogate diverge to the left at this location. BR Peppercorn 'A1' 4-6-2 No. 60158 'Aberdonian' is heading an up ECS & Parcels train towards York in August 1964. It was built at Doncaster in Nov. 1949 and withdrawn in Dec. 1964.
