This appears to be a very early 1954 photo of the second 'EM2' or '77' class Co-Co Electric No. 27001 (later named 'Ariadne'). It is at Guide Bridge with an interesting rake of coaches. 27001 was built at Gorton in March 1954, withdrawn in October 1968 and is now preserved at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry.
