30120 1961-10-07 Eastleigh

A long term resident at the Southern Region's Eastleigh Motive Power Dept , " T 9 " class 30120 was to achieve fame in later years and is happily still with us today .
Following withdrawal , this " Greyhound " , the sole survivor of her class , languished in store on the Bluebell Line for no less than fifteen years before going to the Bodmin and Wenford Railway in Cornwall in 2007 from where she was sent for restoration at Bream in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire at the Flour Mill Workshops , that establishment having earlier restored both of the two surviving Beattie Well Tanks numbered 30585 and 30587 , both of which had seen service in earlier years on the Cornish china clay freights within the Bodmin area.
Whilst the engine was restored at Bream , her eight wheeled tender , officially known as a " Watercart " , was restored at Bodmin and 30120 returned into operational sevice on that Bodmin and Wenford heritage line in August of 2010 ,
Since restoration 30120 has been a regular performer on her " home " territory in Cornwall but has also attended at other heritage sites and is presently booked to help out on the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh from September of 2017 as that line's only operational tender engine in the shape of 3205 has recently been taken out of service for essential repairs to be carried out.
