LSWR T9 4-4-0 No 30302 with an up train leaving Southampton Central headed for Portsmouth and Southsea (low level) on 3 June 1952. The line in the left foreground crossing Western Esplanade is interesting as it used to lead to the Southampton Corporation Electricity Works and was shunted by a 550V DC 0-4-0 industrial overhead electric loco built by the workshops of Southampton Corporation Tramways.
