LNER A4 16 Silver King waits with the 5.15pm Newcastle express in Grantham Station on 2 August 1947. A wonderful picture of an A4 in the early post war period following reinstatement of the Garter Blue livery but with the new numbering. Judging by the coal visible in the tender it looks like it has just taken over the train for the run to Newcastle.
