Daily weekday train of Drikold (solid carbon dioxide) from ICI Billingham to Birmingham. Usually worked by a York B16/1.

Interestingly the returning empties were never seen at the Norton Junctions so it is believed the return working was routed differently.

The product at -minus 79 degrees centigrade was loaded into special highly insulated wooden containers through the top hatch, which was then secured and for some reason always sheeted over using small special wagon sheets. The containers were always loaded on special long wheelbase Conflat A wagons, two per wagon.
