1410 1947 Monkton Moor

1410 1947 Monkton Moor

Monkton Moor was between Harrogate and Ripon on the ex-NER route to Northallerton that closed in 1969. It had always been a favourite haunt of photographers as the gradient could usually be relied on to produce a good exhaust! Such is the case here in 1947, as one of York MPD's many Raven 'B16/1' class 4-6-0s is working hard. No. 1410 was built at Darlington in June 1920 as NER No. 906 and was withdrawn in October 1960 as BR No. 61410. The Gresley and Thompson rebuilds of many 'B16s' made good locomotives even better!
