Note the crane in the background for loading the nuclear flasks and the polythene covered structure that at first we thought was a ground frame on the right, however as Roger Newman says we know don't think the polythene structure is anything to do with the groundframe - it is a hand made cloche within the trackside garden of a railway employee.

This loco is a two tone green livery and came as D5048. This is one of of Dr I Allens pictures and there is a shot of the same loco in his book Diesels in East Anglia at the same location, it states that it is 5048, but neither is quite clear enough to see, but there appears to be a 4 in the number, the only Ipswich 24's to recieve the two tone livery were 5037/38 & 40, being repainted in the summer of '65 at Derby works, so it is D5040, 5048, also an Ipswich loco, in another of our pictures was repainted at Derby in straight green in April/May '66.
