D5031 1960s Sutton Park

D5031 1960s Sutton Park

BR Sulzer 'Type 2' No.D5031 in the mid-1960s passing through Sutton Park with a Class 4 freight from the Bescot direction which consists entirely of wooden containers loaded into open wagons. This was normally strictly against the rules, and since they are not new this must have been a special movement. The 1959-built diesel has a 1A Willesden shedcode painted on near its left hand buffer; it was transferred there in February 1963. The goods loop and shed can be seen on the left of the picture and on the right the signals controlling access to the third platform line.
