BR Sulzer Type '2' No. D5050 had been transferred from Edinburgh Haymarket to Longsight in January 1968. It was renumbered as No. 24050 in May 1974 but only lasted less than two years after this, and was withdrawn in October 1975. The steam shed at Edge Hill remained in use until 6th May 1968 of that year which narrows down the date of this picture to early in that year.
