Robert Waterman adds "Headcode 98 indicates a Victoria to Bognor service via Redhill, Horsham & Littlehampton. This was a unidirectional headcode - 42 was used in the opposite direction, presumably to avoid confusion because of the need to reverse at Littlehampton in both directions."
