NBR 214 1900s Cowlairs (NBR) MPD

NBR 214 1900s Cowlairs (NBR) MPD

North British Railway Holmes 'M' (LNER 'D31') class 4-4-0 No. 214. Built at Cowlairs in June 1895, rebuilt slightly larger boiler & cylinders by W. Chalmers in 1922 and with drawn in May 1939 as LNER No. 9214.

Seen at Cowlairs MPD circa 1895 and in original condition, No. 214 is adorned with a selection of personnel, all with watch chains gleaming. Understandably, they seem keen to be immortalised by the photographer. Note also the 'quatrefoil' symbol, unique to NBR wagons on the left.

Restored from an original period 8"x10" print.
