Ex-North British Railway Reid 'K' (LNER 'D32') class 4-4-0 No. 9888. Built at Cowlairs in December 1906 as NBR No. 888 and withdrawn in November 1948 still as LNER No. 2449.

This mixed traffic design of twelve locomotives proved to be very successful, becoming a basis of all future NBR 4-4-0 designs. This view of 9888 is at Edinburgh's Haymarket MPD in August 1938.
