Estimated date, heading from Leeds towards Harrogate (for which it is signalled). Thanks to Paul Reilly for this, it puzzled me for quite a while! On a Liverpool - Newcastle working, once the trains were dieselised they ran between Leeds and Harrogate via Wetherby to avoid reversal at Leeds. Back in steam days a new engine came on at Leeds so it could go on the other end of the train. With diesels the loco change was no longer necessary hence the use of the Wetherby line. As Wetherby closed in 1964 John Freear suggests this is 1963, main line expresses only ran through here for a couple of years before being routed via York.
