Saturday , the 29th .May , 1965 and a good day to be at Swindon with my shot of " Flying Scotsman " setting off on the return stage of the " East Midlander" Enthusiasts' Special at 3.30.p.m. and well down on time due to a broken tender spring which had required attention within the Works complex.
7029 " Clun Castle " had also paid a visit to Swindon that day , having been rostered more by design than accident to the afternoon scheduled working from Gloucester to Swindon and return , one of just three surviving " Castles " remaining in service at Gloucester's Horton Road Depot at that date.
