61920 1950s York MPD

The GNR designed Gresley K3 Moguls have (to me) a slightly ungainly bulk about them! They were nonetheless fine and capable machines, No. 61920 is seen at York MPD in the 1950s. Gresley is reputed to have instructed his draughtsman Harry Broughton, to design the "largest boiler possible" for the K3 frames! 61920 was built by Armstrong Whitworth in July 1934 and was withdrawn in Sept. 1961
