Long term Colwick resident K3 2-6-0 No.61896 passes through a very well presented West Hallam station heading for Burton with a lengthy Class H through freight, probably in spring 1958. West Hallam was one of the very few stations situated directly adjacent to a colliery pithead, and many hours could be spent watching the NCB shunter positioning wagons for loading under the screens from the footbridge leading to the Nottingham bound platform.
