61902 1961-06 Hull Hessle Road Crossing

Passing under the impressive girder bridge that carried the ex-Hull & Barnsley lines over the NER's metals at Hessle Road Crossing in Hull, is ex-LNER Gresley 'K3' 2-6-0 No. 61903. It is on a local freight working in June 1961 and carries a '114' target code.

The NER and HBR had an uneasy side-by-side relationship in the area, only resolved when the NER absorbed the local upstart just prior to the 1923 grouping. 61903 was built by Armstrong Whitworth in Mar. 1931 as LNER No. 1106 and was withdrawn in July 1961.
