Old Oak Common's 70015 Apollo has come off the coaling line and is now being prepared for its return home to the Capital from Plymouth. It is taking water which would usually take place outside the Running Shed, but it looks to be busy on shed so perhaps on this day space there was not available. Most of Old Oak Common's allocation of Britannias found their way down to the far West in the early ' fifties, invariably on the 1.30.p.m. and 3.30.p.m. workings from Paddington to Plymouth, very often being sent back home again the next day on a similar top link duty, quite often on the afternoon Plymouth 3.45.p.m. North Mail and working back to Old Oak via Bristol Temple Meads on a later evening duty from Bristol.
