70021 5175 75025 1956-05-23 Laira
Peter Kerslake says "My late evening photograph on Laira's coaling line depicts our 5175 with the appearance of having just been through Works as Laira's 70021 "Morning Star" is replenished with coal from above having worked down on the 1:30 p.m from Paddington, arriving at Plymouth at 6:25p.m.
75025 was one of a couple allocated to Laira for general duties including piloting turns between here and Newton Abbot but they didn't stay for long and I believe they went to the Cambrian system and ended their days as bankers over the Fells on the Midland Region.
I 've taken a chance here as the light is in the wrong quarter, the pattway alongside the coaling line being what we enthusiasts considered our "right of way", although the shedmaster may not have agreed !"
