MR 1000 1979-10-20 York MPD
The restored Deeley Midland Railway 4-4-0 Compound No. 1000 is truly a sight to behold in its magnificent 'Midland Red' livery. Here it is at York MPD in October 1979 with York Minster, another magnificent construction, on the skyline. I wonder if anyone could be found to understand and drive a compound these days?
Early morning shot by the angle of the shadows and some “special equipment” in front of loco, suggests it is about to set off for Leeds to pilot 5690 on the Leeds – Harrogate – York leg of “Leander Enterprise” railtour. Saturday 20 October 1979.
