Preserved Midland Compound No.1000 waits at Rugby Central on 11th September 1960 with the R.C.T.S. (East Midlands Branch) 'The East Midlander' No. 4 Rail Tour which it had brought from Nottingham Victoria and worked on to Oxford, handing over to GWR 43xx No.7317. The tour went firstly to visit Eastleigh Works and then onto Swindon where No.1000 picked up the train to take it back to Nottingham.
