49430 1950s Water Orton

49430 1950s Water Orton

Former LNWR 0-8-0 No.49430 in the early 1950s on the Up slow line approaching Kingsbury/ Water Orton with an unfitted Class H freight. The ‘G2’ had been transferred to Nuneaton shed in Autumn 1951 and stayed there until September 1960 when it moved to Bescot. It was one of four ‘G2s’to survive there until 1964 and one of the regular duties for them was from Bescot Yard to Washwood Heath, thence Water Orton to Wolverhampton, back to Aldridge and then light engine back to Bescot.
