One of the early withdrawls and rather 'camera shy'.

Peter Kerslake says "Totterdown Gardens and Bedminster Park were splendid elevated vantage points from which to observe and record on film the many and varied "comings and goings" into and from Bristol Temple Meads just a mile or so ahead and our cameraman has captured D 1032 "Western Marksman" as she heads a Paddington bound express up from the Westcountry and aproaches Temple Meads.
Bedminster, famed for its tobacco factories is on the far side of the lines and the neat and clean ballast and trackwork all look well maintained by the linesmen responsible for this secttion.
"Western Marksman" had been intended to be built at Swindon but output by Crewe was faster than at Swindon and "Westerns" D1030 to D1034 inclusive were accordingly constructed at Crewe instead of at Swindon resulting in Crewe building forty four and Swindon thirty of the class.
"Western Marksman" had the sad distinction of being one of the very first two of her class to be condemned as early as May of 1973, joining sister D1019 "Western Marksman" some four years earlier than the last survivors which soldiered on into early 1977."
