No.D1013 Western Ranger trundling along the sea front at Teignmouth on 19 July 1967 with what looks like china clay empties. It would remain in maroon until the following year when it was repainted in blue during an Intermediate overhaul at Swindon which lasted from March until August.

David J Haes comments " Possibly the "Clayliner" empties from the Potteries (see image of D1069 with 4V29 near Taunton). The headcode for this was later amended to 6V53, which was the balance of the loaded 6M55 from St. Blazey to the Potteries

These trains were previously electric-hauled from and to Bletchley, but were later amended (circa 1973) to be electric-hauled from and to Bescot, by which time the service was "Western" hauled via Bristol, Gloucester and Worcester. There was also an additional Wednesday "Clayliner" train to and from the Potteries, which also ran via Bescot but as 6M32/6V06. "
