Oxley was very much a steam shed, so although D1011 Western Thunderer is outside the 'lifting' shop , it is highly unlikely that any diesel locomotive was ever 'lifted' there. Servicing would have been at the more basic level of the "A" or "B examination equivalent of much later years - fuel , coolant and engine room checks, etc. More involved work would have been carried out at Old Oak Common or Laira , which from 10th September 1962 received locomotives off the triangular diagrams which included the route 'to the north'.
