A rare view of Westerns on Carmarthen shed. Their headcodes are 1F70 and 1F78 and it would be interesting to know what they have been working. I guess one would run to Whitland to take the Up Milk train to London, perhaps the other would pick up the Fishguard Sleepers which I think collected extra coaches at Carmarthen station therefore requiring either a new loco or the train engine to run round. Keith Morris adds 1F70 was 6.55pm Paddington to Fishguard Harbour. 1F78 was 9.25pm Paddington to Neyland (MO) - conveys Bristol Mails from Cardiff As the date of the photo was a Sunday I now wonder if these codes were in preparation for the next days duties as they are facing in the correct direction?
