Western No.D1017 Western Warrior in the transitional livery of blue with small yellow warning panels only carried by seven of the class passes Hollacombe Gas Works on 15th July 1967. By this time traffic to the gas works had reduced, the base of the signal box, closed in December of the previous year and replaced by a ground frame, is clearly seen. Gas production would cease in 1968 but re-development work on the cleared site only started in the summer of 2015. Lets hope the delightfully named Gasworks Beach will remain and provide a link with the past.
