MW 2015 Abernant 1960s Austin Motor Company Longbridge

Abernant was built by Manning Wardle in Leeds in 1921 as their works No.2015 for the Cardiff Corporation who used it on the Llwynon reservoir construction project. It was sold via T.W.Ward Ltd to the Austin Motor Company in December 1927 and worked at Longbridge until 1963 when it became surplus and was purchased by J.Cashmore’s, Great Bridge. However, it wasn’t scrapped and was presented to a children’s playground in Duddeston in inner-city Birmingham early in 1964. It was removed to Tyseley in 1989 and has since moved around various preservation sites.
