Industrial 1976 Stromeferry

Industrial 1976 Stromeferry

Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0DM D918 was supplied to the Port of Bristol Authority in 1956 as part of a plan to replace their steam fleet and given the number D2008 and named Guinnion. When it was later replaced by a more modern batch of Rolls Royce Sentinels, this one was sold to a scrapyard in Essex in 1973 but then taken to BR's Stratford Works for overhaul in 1975 and sale to Howard Doris Ltd, and taken all the way to Stromeferry where a rail to sea transfer yard was set up to supply the Kishorn offshore fabrication base. It moved here in 1976. Both the locos here fell out of use by the mid 1980s and have since been scrapped.
